To support it’s plans to recruit an additional 20,000 police officers in England and Wales by March 2023, the Home Office set up the Police Uplift Programme. The programme worked across the Home Office, National Police Chiefs’ Council and the College of Policing.
Research Partners worked with the Uplift Programme, the National Association for Women in Policing, and the CIPD, to investigate how women officers feel about the police promotion process. Involving workshops and a survey of over 1,400 female police officers, the research explored some of the concerns that women have about entering the process to inform future policy.
