Poor hydration is linked to preventable health issues such as falls, UTIs and constipation. Better hydration monitoring supports care planning and risk identification. Research Partners are delighted to be working with the Trust on an innovative pilot testing new technologies in residential care and nursing homes across the region. The Hydracare cup automatically monitors fluid intake, digitally recording the results.
Our role is to evaluate the impact of the introduction of the cups on staff and residents. We have supported the Trust, working with the Care Homes Association, to identify research participants and we will be surveying home managers, speaking to residents and care staff, and analysing digital care records to see what difference the new technology makes. We will be reporting our results early in 2024, and hope to be able to analyse data from around 300 cup users.
